getting to know o-town.

I've been feeling a bit claustrophobic lately, and felt the need to get to know the bay area a little more. Dragging patrick on walks around lake merritt, or through the botanical gardens has become my regular excuse to get some fresh air and a little bit of sunshine. I mean, what is the point of living some place with nice weather if you never leave the house to enjoy it? This is my rationalization, at least. Today was my day off, so I put this into practice. By the way, I think patrick is getting tired of being in all these pictures, heh. i need to find a friend to drag around with me and give him a break :).

lake merritt! we were tryin to get some kind of tan...

little sandy area, not sure what to call it.

Oasis!
Here's another one from my phone, the other night at work. late lunch, around 8 pm, outside whole foods on the patio......

gotta love that 7-11 sign again the sunset:)! the clouds were especially purple that night. which got me to searching other oakland sunset photos on google, where i found this one...

one thing about this area i am really liking is how the fog rolls in and out of the hills... this one kind of captured that a little bit, I think. looks like winter maybe ? can't tell for sure.

and, here's an aerial view of the area.... we live on the right side of the freeway, behind the buildings in downtown Oakland (that's the general neighborhood anyway)

Hoping to get out more and take some more photos as time and money allows. This weekend there's a show at this local venue and 4 bands are playing, all consisting of whole foods employees. I've gotten to know a few of them, and I think we're gonna make an effort to get out and hear their tunes, hopefully I'll have some interesting pics from that evening to share eventually..... we shall see....

As a last note, I'm extremely excited that we will be able to make a quick trip back to Billings for Graham and Coralene's wedding, and am hoping to get some photos during that time as well. We miss so many people on a daily basis, and it will be great to see those familiar faces:)!
